HERITAGE Family Ministry

This is a new area of ministry for us but we are excited to now have a Children and Families Coordinator. We will start by offering events for those who want Jesus to be at the heart of their family life and want to grow in faith together. Then we will see where the Lord leads us!

  • Online Community for Prayerful Scripture Reflection. (3/22/2020) - An online Community for Prayerful Scripture Reflection. During this time, when many of our usual ways of expressing our Faith have been removed, and we can no longer gather together due to the Coronavirus, it is all the more important that we find ways to invest in our relationships with God and each other. Here is one small way that we can communicate our faith and support each other whilst encouraging daily prayer with a Scriptural focus. It is also a great way for people who are usually involved with Metanoia Project groups and events to keep in touch and continue to feel part of the Metanoia family as well as the wider Church community. God wants to speak to us all and has given us His Word as a constant source of life and relationship with Him. The aim of this group is to encourage each other to spend time each day praying with Scripture and allowing God to speak to us. Please then share your thoughts, questions and reflections to help us all hear from our Loving Father. Metanoia Project 'The God Who Speaks' Scripture Reflection Group
  • Metanoia Project Operations and the Coronavirus. (3/19/2020) - Dear Young People, Parents, Friends and Supporters, Because of recent guidance from both the Government and the Bishops’ Conference, and in consultation with the schools and Parishes with which we work, we have made the difficult decision to suspend all of our groups and events except our work with the Homeless. Therefore, there will be no youth groups at St Clare’s or St Mary’s Lea Town, no talks for adults at St Wilfrid’s, no meetings for our Young Leaders or for the Students and Young Adults, no sessions for Young Families, no Adoration with Praise and Worship etc. until further notice. During this time, when many of our usual ways of expressing our Faith have been removed, and we can no longer gather together, it is all the more important that we find ways to invest in our relationships with God and each other. Although our regular groups and events will not be able to continue for the foreseeable future, the Metanoia Project Team will continue to be here to support you in any way we can and we will be finding different avenues to build and maintain community in ways that do not require physical contact. We will also continue to offer spiritual input, scripture reflection and prayer resources through various means so look out for ways to stay involved and nourish your Faith! You can let us know what sort of thing you would / would not like to hear about by filling in our ‘contact preferences’ form here: http://metanoiaproject.co.uk/contact-preferences/ If you are fit and well and do not support any vulnerable people in your work or household, why not consider helping us serve the homeless at our Wednesday Drop-in? Our usual team of volunteers is somewhat depleted due to the need to self-isolate so any help will be gratefully received. We will miss meeting with you all but hope that we will be able to see you all again in the not-too-distant future. In the meantime, look after yourselves, keep praying and keep in touch! God bless Ruth and Joe
  • Heritage has moved to Sundays!! (1/25/2020) - Dates for 2019/20 Sundays 15th September 17th November 19th January 15th March 17th May 5th July
  • New Dates for Heritage (11/9/2018) -
  • Welcome to Nora! (7/22/2018) - There has been so much going on over the past few months that there has been no time to write about any of it!! A huge bit of brilliant news though is that Nora Lord joined our team here in April as Children and Families Coordinator. We are very blessed to have her with us and to receive the benefit of her enthusiasm, joy and hard work. There are already a few new plans in the pipeline and we can't wait to see the impact Nora has on our ministry. Please keep her (and all of us) in your prayers.
  • Family Afternoon (5/11/2018) - We are really excited to present our first event for families. Come along for family fun and prayer and to meet other families who are passionate about growing in faith together. All the details are on the poster but please get in touch with Nora if you want any further info.

Metanoia Project
Gospel for Tuesday 26th January 2021: Mark 3:31-35

The mother and brothers of Jesus arrived and, standing outside, sent in a message asking for him. A crowd was sitting round him at the time the message was passed to him, ‘Your mother and brothers and sisters are outside asking for you.’ He replied, ‘Who are my mother and my brothers?’ And looking round at those sitting in a circle about him, he said, ‘Here are my mother and my brothers. Anyone who does the will of God, that person is my brother and sister and mother.’

At the heart of Metanoia Project are the people, the team, who work together to help bring about the Kingdom of God. We'd love for you to get to know these lovely people...

"Hi everyone. My name is Anthony and I am known to everyone as Tony.

I help out mainly with the homeless drop-in on a Wednesday evening but also help out when I am needed, whether it be driving to pick up or drop off donations.

I have also helped out by driving the minibus to transport people to venues. I also help the team with stewarding when Metanoia have venues on at the Church.

I also am part of the team of seven who write the Sunday Gospel reflections which are shared on the Metanoia Gospel reflection Whatsapp group, and the 'God Who Speaks' Facebook group.

I am 60yrs old and work part time as a gardener in the Preston area.

The Gospel reading that has meaning to me at the moment is Matthew 25:14-30 (the Parable of the Talents), and the verses that stand out most to me is 24 to 27:
'Then the one who had received the one talent also came forward, saying, "Master, I knew that you were a harsh man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed; so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours." But his master replied, "You wicked and lazy slave! You knew, did you, that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter? Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have received what was my own with interest."'

We are called to use our talents to lead people to Jesus and not slack in our duties to God."

"My name is Sandra, I went to chapel as a child but lost my faith in my teenage years. Living without Christ is like living without sunlight, it gets very dark, and you can get very withdrawn. Jesus lights up our lives. He teaches us how to love and reach out to others.

I work full time at the University in administration. I am married with one daughter.

I grew up in Liverpool surrounded by a loving family, I’m very lucky. My Grandma has probably been the biggest influence in my converting to Catholicism in 2013, it felt like coming home.

I met Joe and Ruth in 2018. I had been praying that God would show me a way to help the increasing numbers of homeless on the streets of Preston and my prayers were answered when I was introduced to Metanoia.

Since going back to church in 2013 I have felt Christ active in my life, answering prayers and guiding me. Finding Metanoia is a prime example of how God works; this wonderful group has enriched my faith and helped me to grow closer to Jesus.

One of the verses that really resonated with me back then is Matthew 7:7:
'Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.'

Recently this verse has really spoken to me again as prayers have been answered and doors opened.

God never ceases to amaze me and when I doubt Him, which I have frequently over these past 9 months, He hears me asking, sees me seeking and opens the door I am knocking on.

Metanoia has played a big part in sustaining my faith. I feel privileged to be part of such a great project."

Day 10 - Looking Forward

We hope you have enjoyed our posts and videos over the past 10 days and now feel more connected to Metanoia Project.

All the recent restrictions and lockdowns have been difficult in so many ways especially as we have been unable to meet in person with all our wonderful groups for so long now – we miss you all so much! But God has not been quiet or absent during this time. In fact, we’ve been able to take more time to listen and plan and we are so excited about what the next stage of Metanoia Project will look like.

So, make sure you look out for exciting announcements coming very soon! We can’t wait for the next adventure that God has in store!

PLEASE PRAY FOR US - WE ALWAYS NEED YOUR PRAYERS!

Day 8 - Wednesday Worship
As you may know, every Wednesday one of our team share a worship song that they love or is particularly relevant at that moment. This week, as part of our 10 years celebrations we have recorded our own version of the song 'Faithfulness' by Matt Maher and Steffany Gretzinger. Ideally, it would have included more members of our worship band but, with the current restrictions, it ended up being just me!
I chose this song because truly God is faithful! If I had to choose the most important thing that I have learnt over the last 10 years (and there have been many, many things) God's unbelievable faithfulness would be that one thing. He has never let us down even though we have let Him down over and over again. He has never given up on us even though we have wanted to give up many times. He has never changed His mind about loving and trusting us even though we must have tried His patience every day. What an awesome God we have who is faithful always and forever!

Our third Unveiled event. This time the theme was our need for God with the Scripture passage about the Pharisee and the Tax Collector from Luke chapter 18. We are getting there with the technology so much easier to watch - just a few more tweaks to get it even better next time!

It was wonderful to be able to have a congregation in Church for the event now that this is permitted again.
