We are very excited to be looking for young adults to join the Metanoia Community at the heart of Metanoia Project’s ministry.
Living in community with other young adults and sharing in the ministry of this ever-growing, Spirit-led project, you will be at the front-line of the mission field, working with people of all ages and from all walks of life, with the support and nurture of a wider, Christ-centred community.
Metanoia Project is all about proclaiming the life-changing Good News of the Kingdom of God, offering opportunities for encounter with Christ, and accompanying people of all ages in on-going discipleship as the family of God. We are passionate about building Church that embodies true community and is deliberate in fulfilling the call of Jesus to go, make disciples.
We aim to provide groups and events for people of all ages that offer age-appropriate, engaging, and challenging faith exploration, enabling everyone to encounter Christ and grow in relationship with Him and His Body, the Church.
Starting with young families, up through youth groups for ages 8-11, 11-14 and 14-18 and our Young Leaders programme, followed by Students and Young Adults and right through to the more senior members of our society, we emphasise the necessity of life-long relationship and discovery in the universal pursuit of holiness.
We also focus on equipping Catholics to share their faith and serve the local community in very practical ways. Our Volunteers programme is the best vehicle for this, through which we offer training and formation as well as opportunities for mission. Our volunteers help make all of the Metanoia Project’s ministry possible and allows us to reach out to many others especially through our Homeless DropIn.
We have a proven record of effective ministry that sees around 200 people regularly attending our groups and events each week and many young people in school. As well as these ongoing relationships there are of course other school and parish groups, conferences and events where we see many more people in a one-off capacity. In taking on our mission year, you would have a central role in this ministry, bringing your gifts and enthusiasm to help further grow and develop these groups and events as well as helping us to pursue new avenues of mission.

A Mission Year with Metanoia Project:
Although we are only looking for an initial commitment of a year this is not a ‘gap year’ as such. Due to the intensity and nature of our ministry, we are looking for young adults who already have a desire for mission and some experience of sharing their faith with others.
We believe this year is unique amongst other year-long mission experiences due to the variety of the ministry that you will be involved with on a daily basis and the long-term relationships of discipleship involved. There is also the potential for using your own gifts to develop new areas of ministry moving forward.

Community:
Community is central to the vision of Metanoia Project and there are various levels of commitment that people currently take. A residential community has always been a big part of that vision as a core that helps hold the wider community together.
The Metanoia Community endeavours to live by 3 attitudes –
Communion: with God, each other and all of creation
Detachment: from all that holds us back from loving fully
Mission: to all people, sharing the love and mercy of God in all circumstances
Living in a house with 2 or 3 other young adults, supported by the Project Directors, residential community life will have a rhythm of prayer, ministry, social time and time for your own health and wellbeing. Community life has an intensity that is perfect for your own personal and spiritual development as well as being the most supportive base out of which to Evangelise!

As one of our Missionaries you will receive:
Training in mission, community life, discipleship, Apostolate of the Laity and leadership
Intense mission experience with events and groups on a daily basis.
An opportunity to learn and develop the attitudes, skills and resources for mission within a well-established and fruitful ministry
Ongoing supervision meetings to aid growth and discernment
Space to discover and develop your own gifting and areas of calling and to make an impact on Metanoia Project
This missionary experience is perfect for anyone considering a future in many areas of ministry including Chaplaincy, Parish Youth or Community work, Ordained Ministry or Religious Life, Catechist, or indeed for anyone wanting to live an authentic Christian life.

We are looking for young adults:
Aged 18-30
With a heart for Jesus and a desire to see others encounter Him
Who are committed Catholics with a passion for building the Kingdom of God
Willing to use their gifts and talents to serve and willing to learn and grow as part of community
The application process will consist of a written application form and an interview weekend. The deadline for applications is 9pm Monday 4th July with the interview weekend taking place Friday 8th – Sunday 10th July. Applicants should expect to attend the whole weekend.
